Japanese Toolbox

woodworking project class

A Japanese toolbox is a simple, beautiful way to store and organize lots of things — tools obviously included. But tools are just one use-case, and a box like this could be adapted to hold all kinds of things, from art supplies, to books — possibly even your rock collection.

Over the course of 4 sessions, learn and build your own toolbox. The class will cover measuring and marking, plus sawing, planing (end grain) with shooting boards, fastening (either dowels or traditional nails), and lastly finishing.

This is a fantastic beginner project that will introduce students to the satisfying process of making a functional and beautiful object that will last a lifetime (or more).
