About our After School and No School programs
We all need space in our lives for creativity and play — and children, in particular, are profoundly impacted by it. A regular creative practice is proven to help kids focus, problem-solve, build resilience, and emotionally regulate. It opens up new worlds where children can express, process, experiment, explore, build, and discover.
Our After School and No School programs are designed around these formative creative processes.
Each afternoon begins with free time for kids to let off steam from the school day through guided and unguided creative exercises such as journaling, doodling, or painting.
Afterward, we break out across art media, immersing ourselves in drawing, watercolor and acrylic paint, collage, printmaking, fiber arts, jewelry, polymer clay, and building simple objects in our hand tool-focused woodshop. Break outs are no more than five children per group under the guidance of our instructors. Your child can choose to focus on specific media (e.g. painting, woodworking) throughout the semester if they find a particular area that sparks their curiosity and creativity.
Cohorts are small — with no more than fifteen children per weekday class. We offer school pickups at Arbor, PS84, and PS132 — with specific weekday schedules to be announced.
In our No School camps, we break the day up into artistic chapters across these media, and come back together for snack time and some stretching (art making can be a workout!). After we eat and move our bodies, we switch art media one last time, and end the day with reflections and project sharing.
